Abstract This paper examines inter-industry patterns of the employment older workers over last 20 years to understand where opportunities have grown most. The underlying premise is that firms strategically align their age mix depending on production function and labor cost parameters. industries had largest increases in percentage were those broadest pension coverage made greatest use high-tech capital. There also evidence 2001–07 increased more most exposed Chinese imports.
